In the midst of lockdown, when so many people are fleeing New York City, I am feeling a bit down because I do not want to leave. The city has been there for me for most of my life, and I feel the need to stay put for my city. Having these feelings as we pack up our car for a weekend away, I see a woman sitting in the window seat reading what appears to be The New Yorker. She doesn’t look like she is going anywhere. I am reminded that much of what I love about this city are the people, and I want to give this woman a hug. Instead I drew her.
